Will the Hollywood Racks SR1 Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2005 Honda CR-V
Question:
Am trying to find a bike rack that I can easily install over the spare tire on my 2005 Honda CR-V. My concern is with the clearance between the bike rack frame and rear windshield wiper. Was hoping that I could find a dealer in this area so I could check clearance thing out but no one around here carries the racks that strap to spare tire. The other alternative would be to get a rack that bolts on but I have a soft cover on my tire that Id like to leave in place. Clearance between back wiper blade and tire is 1inch and lessens to about 3/4inch approximately 1 1/2inch to 2inch towards the ground. Tire is approximately 8 1/2inch wide and 26inch across.

I went out to the warehouse and pulled a Hollywood Racks SR1, # HRSR1, to take an important measurement for you. The rear steel bar on the rack, the one that would be between the back of the spare and the vehicle, is only 1/4 inches thick. Based on your measurements this should not be a problem. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
I do not recommend having a cover on the tire when the rack is installed. This can affect the fit and grip of the bike rack and could cause it to loosen and provide undesired performance.
