Questions on Garmin 1090 System and BC35 Camera

Question:

Help! We bought the garmin 1090 RV edition electronic navigation system. But we have to use the Garmin BC35 backup camera with it. not the BC30. We’re concerned about transmission length - our new fifth wheel RV is 39’ and hooked up to a Ford f450 long bed truck. Some people on RV forums are complaining about the backup camera. Will this camera work for the length of our rig? The BC30 has a 50’ extension cord but I believe the BC35 doesn’t. If the garmin backup camera doesn’t work we’re going to return the 1090 but we’re running out of time to initiate a return. Also, not sure the garmin 1090 is worth it. Would appreciate any insight and advice.

While I am familiar enough with the Garmin to know they have a decent reputation for product quality, it is not a product line that etrailer carries, and for full honesty, I am not familiar enough to speak on it with confidence.

If you decide to return and go another route, I suggest you consider the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Observation Camera System w/ Side Marker Light Cameras and a 5" Screen, # FCE48TASL-05. This comes with a robust 5" monitor and 3 cameras to provide multiple views around your RV. This system will provide you with a backup camera and 2 blind spot cameras that help make maneuvering your trailer much easier. You can also add a 4th camera to the system using part # FCN48TASF, which could be stationed above your trailer's door to provide you with a number of different views of your surroundings. Its usable range is up to, if not exceeding, 100 feet. So, there is no issue using this with a larger 5th wheel.
