Comparing RockyMounts MonoRail to Yakima Fullback 2 for 2019 Acura RDX without Hitch
Question:
Hello, Im looking at the Yakima Fullback 2 compared to this rack for my Acura RDX 2019. Both racks appear to be highly recommended. I do like that the Rockymounts does not rest against the paint. I dont have a trailer hitch. Any thoughts on recommendation for one over the other? I did just order the Yakima from etrailer, but having second thoughts. I was hoping to have one of them before our trip leaving on Sep 3

You're correct that the Fullback 2 and MonoRail are both very highly recommended and are very high quality bike racks; I've recommended both of these to our neighbors depending on their particular vehicle and needs. With that said, the Yakima Fullback 2 # Y02633 and RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10003 are two different types of rack in that one is a trunk mounted rack and the other is a hitch mounted rack; they're not really comparable since a trunk mounted rack is typically only used when you don't have a hitch on your vehicle.
Since you don't have a hitch on your 2019 Acura RDX, you're likely going to be best suited going with the trunk mounted Yakima Fullback 2 # Y02633; the RockyMounts MonoRail requires at least a hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver, so using it would require also having a hitch installed on your vehicle.
If you want to have a hitch installed, the Draw-Tite # 36114 has a 1-1/4" receiver, so it will fit the MonoRail.
