Which Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution/Sway Control System for Trailer With 755lb Dry Tongue Weight
Question:
I have a trailer with 755lbs of dry hitch weight. Im thinking that it wont take much to get it over the 800 lbs limit of the Curt 17499. Im concerned that the 17500 will create too stiff of a ride. What would you recommend? Thanks

You are correct, once your trailer with the 755 lb dry tongue weight is loaded up with cargo or gear the tongue weight is sure to be well over the 800 lb capacity of the Curt # C17499 TruTrack weight distribution system.
The best way to proceed would be to load the trailer up as you'd normally run it, then determine the tongue weight as outlined in the article I've linked for you. The article lists a few different ways to find your tongue weight, one way being a tongue weight scale like # e99044.
Once you determine the loaded trailer tongue weight, you'll also want to add the weight of any cargo carried in your truck bed behind the rear axle. The weight distribution system you choose will need to be rated for this total tongue weight.
The Curt # C17500 TruTrack you mentioned is rated for trailers with 800-1000 lbs of tongue weight. If you find your tongue weight is greater than 1000 lbs, you'd use # C17501 which is rated for 1000-1500 lbs of tongue weight.
The Curt # C17499 doesn't include a trailer ball. If you find your tongue weight is under 800 lbs, which is doubtful, you'll need a 2 inch ball like part # A-90 or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball. The 2-5/16 inch ball is included with the 1000 lb # C17500 and the # C17501 1500 lb system.
I've also linked to a video showing how the system is set up.
