Replacing Brake Controller in 1985 GMC K2500 With Prodigy P3 Brake Controller

Question:

How would I wire the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 90195 into a 1985 GMC K2500? The truck currently has a failing, old school electric time delay brake controller that is also plumbed into the master cylinder.

It sounds like your 1985 GMC truck already has a working 7-way and wiring since you mentioned you have an electric brake controller already, so you will just need to remove that controller and tap into the correct wires in your truck to add the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195.

The P3 comes with the harness to splice into your wiring, with the blue wire mating with the brake output wire, the white going to the ground wire, the black to the 12 volt hot lead, and the red to the cold side of the stop light switch (the wire that is only active when the brake pedal is pressed).
