Recommended Truck Bed Cross Bars for a Retrax XR on a 2020 F-250

Question:

I have 2020 F250 with the Retrax Power XR and I would like to put rails on it would you go with this kit RRVA180B-RRRLT600 and does it have everything I need to make it work? One last question what platform do you recommend using to add a tent?

We definitely have options available to add rails over your Retrax cover and I have a couple listed below. I do need to say that most, if not all, roof rack style tents will not need a platform to attach to though. They will generally clamp to the crossbars and will get all the support from them and internal supports within the tent structure.

With that being said, the Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbar System for Retrax XR Series and Mountain Top EVO-M Tonneau Covers - Black - 71" Long # RRVA180B-RRRLT600 does indeed come with everything needed to attach to your Retrax Power XR. From here, the Yakima LockNLoad Platform Rack for Crossbars - Aluminum - 84" Long x 62" Wide # Y05049-39 will mount to the # RRVA180B-RRRLT600 very nicely. However, it should be noted that this will have a maximum holding capacity of around 140 pounds once the # Y05049-39 is installed, due to the # RRVA180B-RRRLT600 having a 220 pound max capacity and the LockNLoad weighing right at 80 pounds.

If you wanted something with quite a bit more capacity, I suggest going with the Yakima OutPost HD Overland Truck Bed Rack - Aluminum - 500 lbs - 78" Crossbars # Y01152-59. The Tonneau Cover Adapter Kit for Yakima OverHaul HD and OutPost HD Truck Bed Ladder Racks # Y01155 will adapt this to work with your Retrax Power XR and will have a 500 pound capacity. From here, the Yakima SkyRise HD Tent for Roof Rack Crossbars - 2 Person - 400 lbs - Tan and Red # Y07436 can be mounted directly to the ladder rack without the need of a platform or any other additional parts.
