For your 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Reciever # SH49ZR is a direct fit.

To install # SH49ZR you will need a 15/16" open ended wrench; 13mm, 16mm, 5/8", 3/4" 11/16",1/2", 15/16" sockets; Torque wrench, 90° pick, plastic pry tools, and T15 & T25 Torx bits.

Start by gaining access to the mounting area through the rear cargo area. Locate the side panels and remove vent covers by using the 90° pick tool # 301-17144 to access the taillight. Remove the taillight next by turning the plastic spring loaded wingnut counter-clockwise. Slide the taillight to the side exposing the light plug; to remove push down on the clip and pull the plug outward.

Next move to the rear wheel well, and remove the 3 screws with a T25 Torx bit behind the tire holding the wheel well liner on. With the wheel liner removed, locate 1 screw and remove with T25 Torx bit. Partially remove wheel trim by applying outward pressure to release retaining clips. Start at the bottom and work your way up to avoid breaking clips. Remove last screw once wheel trim in removed.

Moving underneath the vehicle, remove 4 screws from the bottom of the fascia with a T15 Torx bit. Finish removing the rear fascia by pulling the top of the fascia to expose a clip in the seam, using a plastic pry tool # ALL648544 push down on the clip to disconnect. Continue to pull outward and disconnect clips as they are exposed. Repeat until they are all disconnected.

Remove the 8 bolts securing the factory reinforcement beam, and discard. Install the Stealth Hitch frame by centering on the vehicle chassis and secure with 8 M8 bolts, lock washer and flat washer. Torque to 20 ft.-lbs with a 13mm socket.

Install the latch block with 2 5/8" bolts and 2 5/8" nylock nuts; torque to 150 ft.-lbs. To finalize the install, reattach the fascia, taillights, and other vehicle components in reverse order.
