Recommended Hitch Receiver For Carrying 2 E-Bikes With a 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid
Question:
I have a Honda CR-V Hybrid EX-L and would like to be able to use a bike rack for 2 ebikes weighing about 55 lbs each. Towing is not recommended by Honda and some folks have said adding a tow package even if you use it for a bike rack might void the warranty. I prefer the bike racks attached to a hitch mount, do you have something that will work? Do you know why Honda is so against the tow pkg for bike racks? Thanks for your help.

I looking at the owners manual for your 2020 Honda CR-V I do see that it says not to tow with your 2020 Honda CR-V as it can void your warranty, but I did not find anything about not being able to use a receiver for the purpose of a bike carrier. You can always check your warranty paperwork for any information in regards to the installation of aftermarket accessories such as a hitch receiver for a bike rack. The maximum weight of your passengers and cargo should not exceed 850lbs per Honda.
I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98848 for your 2020 Honda CR-V. This receiver has a 2" receiver that will open you up to more accessories than a 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is rated at a maximum tongue weight of 525lbs but be sure to not exceed Honda weight ratings.
The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202 uses a frame mounted holding system that can hold 2 bikes up to 65lbs each. This will work with your e-bikes with or without fenders on the wheels. The rack can be tilted to access your cargo are when the bikes are installed on your CR-V to access your rear cargo area. Integrated locks will secure the rack to your CR-V and the bikes to your rack with a one key lock system.
The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118741 will allow you to add a set of Auxiliary Lights # C53201 to the back of your bike rack so that the drivers on the road behind you will not have the bikes to interfere with the view of your taillights.
