Recommended Boat Lift Winch For a 1,600LB Boat That Can Be Operated With a Cordless Drill

Question:

Hello I have an older boat lift that lifts around a 1600lb fiberglass boat. The wheel operated winch gears have failed. I am looking for a replacement and I am wondering what you would recommend. The winch would need to be able to handle around 2000lb capacity Have breaking system that would allow lifting and retracting of the boat with easy control If possible have use of battery powered drill to lift, along with mounting of the large wheel of the original if possible. thanks much

I recommend the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch # DL11001 for your lift. This winch is rated for 2,000lbs and offers a removable handle. The removable handle uses a 5/8" socket which can easily be fitted to a cordless drill. You will need a drill adapter that will fit your 5/8" socket and your cordless drill. I highly recommend staying away from the cordless impact drills as the impacts will lead to both the rounding of the socket and damage to the gears.
