Determining Correct Weight Distribution Hitch For 2019 Dodge Durango Towing 2021 Keystone Passport
Question:
I have a 2019 Dodge Durango and am purchasing a 2021 Keystone Passport 299RK. The dry weight is 5,140 lbs. and the hitch weight is 575 lbs. My tow weight limit is 6,200 lbs. Which weight distribution sway bar system do I need? I also need to back up and I have built in braking system in my SUV.

Since your 2019 Dodge Durango is limited to 6200lbs trailer weight, and tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the trailer weight the max tongue weight of your trailer should be 620-930lbs. You will want to confirm this using a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044, or one of the other methods shown in the included help article
For a weight distribution hitch with built in sway control for that range I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion - 8,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW # FA92-00-0800 if you are between 400-800lbs tongue weight, or the # FA92-00-1000 if you are between 800-930lbs tongue weight.
Both of these hitches allow backing up, and have built in two point sway control that does a great job of keeping your trailer straight going down the road. Neither hitch includes a hitch ball so you will also need either 2" hitch ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" # 19286 to match the coupler on your 2021 Keystone Passport 299RK.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
