Trailer Hitch that Fits a 2012 Dodge Durango R/T with a 20 Inch Spare Tire
Question:
I have a 2012 Dodge Durango R/T and I was wondering if the hitch will fit with the full size spare 20R265. I was also wondering if there is a difference with the fit on the R/T because the the entire vehicle sits lower to the ground.

Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75713 is compatible with the 18 inch full size spare but a 20 inch may be too large; however the R/T is not excluded from the hitch fit list. If you look at the instructions which I have linked for you, the hitch fits on the outside of the spare cavity, so left to right it should not be an issue, even with a 20 inch spare. However, front to back could be the issue and you may have to relocate the hanger for the spare if possible or it could be difficult to get the spare in and out.
I also recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900 which comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring if needed use # 118552.
Since the R/T sits lower to the ground, the hitch, too, would be closer to the ground so keep that in mind when choosing accessories.
