Ladder Rack For 2018 Ford F-150 With 5-1/2 Foot Bed That Can Mount Yakima SkyBox Cargo Box 18 or 21

Can I mount a Thule tracrac closer together than the truck stake holes to fit a Yakima skybox which has a minimum of 42”?

There is a ladder rack that will fit your 2018 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 foot bed that will allow you to mount a Yakima SkyBox cargo box that has a maximum crossbar spread of 42 inches (which are the SkyBox 18 # Y07336 and SkyBox 21 # Y07337), though the TracRac mounting cannot be adjusted.
Additionally, the TracRac crossbars are 4 inches wide, so they are too large for the SkyBox to fit. The option that will work for you is a ladder rack from Yakima, the OverHaul, with the correct fit for your 2018 F-150 with a 5-1/2 foot bed being the following part:
- Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack # Y01151-58
This rack will allow you the spread needed to mount either of the large SkyBoxes, is easy to install with its clamp-on mounting system, and gives you up to 500 lbs of cargo carrying capacity. So you'll be able to mount a cargo box or other accessories without issue, and you can also utilize it for more everyday use as well if need be.
It has tie-down points at the towers, but for added tie-downs for things like ladders or lumber you can also add the Load Stops # Y01161 or Eye Bolts # Y01162.
