Does Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 76253 Increase Tongue Weight Rating Of 2021 Subaru Ascent?
Question:
Hi, Im really impressed with this trailer hitch and definately looking at getting it but I was curious about the tongue weight. Im having a difficult time finding actual ascent spec for tongue weight and all Ive been seeing is 500 lbs. Since yours says 750lbs is it still only limited to 500lbs that subaru is saying theirs is rated for? 2021 subaru ascent

Based on what information I was able to find on your 2021 Subaru Ascent you will be limited to 500lbs tongue weight if you have the air-cooled continuously variable transmission fluid cooler, and 200lbs if you do not.
In either case you will be limited to the lower rating between the vehicle and the trailer hitch receiver, in this case the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76253 you were looking at. Since both ratings of the vehicle are lower than the rating of the hitch, you would be limited to the vehicles rating.
If you are planning on towing a trailer with your Ascent you will also need a vehicle wiring harness # 118790 if your trailer has a 4-way connector, or the # 118290 if your trailer has a 7-way connector, and a ball mount, hitch ball, and hitch pin and clip which can all be found in the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
