Recommended Brake Controller and Harness for 2009 Chevrolet Silverado
Question:
Can you please tell me if this is the former adaptor? I have a 2009 Silverado that I need to get a trailer brake controller for and possible the wire adaptor. I was looking at the HA81790 Controller and the wire adaptor to go with it. Im having someone else install it for me. My truck is already wired for the lights and I did notice the brakes on the trailer. It is a dual axle and the breaks are on the rear axle. Im looking to have the horse trailer slow down when I add the break and think this might be a good fit? Any suggestions would be great as I will be trailering the horses from Michigan to Tennessee on Aug 28th, 2021. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as it might be some intense driving at times. I dont want to throw them all over in the stock trailer. Thank you so much!!!

The trailer brake controller I recommend for a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado is the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller part # 39510. This is a proportional controller which provides the smoothest braking. It's very reliable and overall a great option. In order to install this you will need the Brake Control Plug-In Harness part # 20127. This harness will wire into the four/five wires you already have run under the dash tucked away. It's pretty simple as you can see in the attached video.
There is no plug on this vehicle, the one you found is the OBDII (Diagnostic).
