I looked through the owners manual for the 2009 GMC Canyon, but was unable to locate any fuses that were specific to trailer turn or brake lights. With that being said, I would check the REAR PRK LAMP fuse as this deals with the lights on the passenger side.
If this fuse is good, I suggest testing your wiring harness to see if there is power to the right side functions. If you do have power, you will need to check the wiring on the trailer as there is either a break in one or more of the wires or you have a bad ground somewhere.
If you are not getting power, you may need to replace the wiring harness. Either that or you may need to take the vehicle to an auto shop to have them diagnose the issue.
