Troubleshooting Tekonsha Primus IQ TK90160 Having N.C Code When Connected To New Travel Trailer
Question:
I got a brand new travel trailer. My truck is a 2016 Colorado. The controller says n.c.inch when I try to set it. Randomly it will display the voltage numbers but then go away and clearly not be working and return to its n.c.inch status. I can feel its not working when I brake. Ive taken my truck to the RV dealer to look at it and they claim it is installed properly and that they setinch it and its fine. Meanwhile its not adjustable as it keeps saying n.c. My inlaws have the same controller and it works, displays the voltage numbers etc. What could be wrong with this thing? Because clearly the dealership isnt helping.

The n.c code you are getting on your Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 means that it is not detecting that a trailer is connected.
This error code has a few different causes but all are related to the trailer side of the equation, with the exception of your 7-way connector having corrosion or debris causing it to not make a solid connection. I recommend starting with checking the 7-way connector on your 2016 Chevrolet Colorado for corrosion or debris first as it is by far the easiest.
If the 7-way connector checks out then you will need to check the trailer brake output wire going from the 7-way connector on trailers 7-way connector to the brake magnets looking for any damaged wiring that could be causing a short.
The last cause is bad brake magnets, but since you mentioned your trailer is brand new it should not have this issue.
Let me know what you find and I would be happy to help you get to the bottom of this.
