Running Lights Not Working On a 2011 Honda Pilot With Tehonsha Wiring Harness

Question:

Hi, I have the tekonsha 118253 installed in our 2011 Honda Pilot. We just plugged in our 2021 Jayco travel trailer to take home from the dealer. The stop lights and indicator lights work but the running and clearance lights don’t illuminate. I was told it could be the converter box or an issue with a ground? The trailer lights work as it was tested. I have used the vehicle to tow smaller utility trailers without issue.

I would first check the fuses in the rear fuse box that were included in the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118253 on your 2011 Honda Pilot. It sounds like the 2021 Jayco travel trailer that you picked up may have just tripped the fuse for the running lights. The Jayco has a lot more running lights than your traditional utility trailer and may have blown the fuse.

I do not see there being a ground wire issue if all the lights work but the running lights.

A Multimeter # PT89ZR can be used on the 7-way connector to ensure that 12 volt power is getting to the correct terminal on your 7-way. When looking into the vehicle 7-way it will be the blade at 11 o'clock. The ground terminal is located at 7 o'clock.
