What is the Weight Handling Capacity of the Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier

Question:

I was wondering how much weight it can handle? I would be putting a 31 offroad tire on it and maybe up to a 33 within a year. Also what hardware does it come with for mounting the tire other then the holes in the mount surface? Thank you in advance

The Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier, item # c31006, does not have a weight capacity rating for the carrier itself. The carrier will be able to handle a wheel and tire combination as long as the weight of the wheel, tire, and carrier are within the tongue weight rating of the receiver hitch it is mounted in. If your hitch, front or rear, is rated for 350 pounds then that would be the maximum amount you could carry.

You will have to supply 3 bolts and nuts (not included) to secure the wheel to the carrier. I would suggest using bolts and nuts that are the same size as the lug nuts on your vehicle so that you will have the proper tools available if the tire is needed.
