What Is The Spring Rate Of SuperSprings SuperCoils SSC-50 For 2019 Ram 1500 Classic?

Question:

I drive a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman. I tow a 7500 lb travel trailer and a 769 lb tongue weight. Using an EZ lift weight distributing hitch, my rear suspension s 3.75”. Taking into account spring wire diameter of .5”, unladen coil spring height, 17.5”, outer coil diameter of 5.5”, and 7 active coils I calculate the spring rate on OEM coils to be 102.6 lbs/inch. I’m calculating the spring rate for the SSC-50 coils and estimate a suspension of 1.38” based on 6.5 active coils, .63” wire diameter, and 5.63” outer diameter. The spring rate I calculate is 278.5 lbs/inch. Can you confirm any of this?

I reached out to my contact at SuperSprings and the SuperCoils Custom Suspension Coils - Rear Axle # SSC-50 you were looking at for your 2019 Ram 1500 Classic has a spring rate of 240lbs which is pretty close to what you were calculating.

Since these springs add 2058lbs of load leveling support to the rear suspension of your truck these are a great option to further decrease sag when towing your 7500lb travel trailer with 769lbs of tongue weight.

Keep in mind that with these springs the rear ride height will be increased by about 3/4".
