Recommended Weight Distribution System for Travel Trailer With 500 Lb Tongue Weight
Question:
I own a 2020 Chevy Silverado RST w/ the towing package and I am trailering a 16 foot 2011 Jayco Super Lite Camper LX. Tongue weight 500lbs Camper Weight 4295 Cargo weight total 2700 I was wondering what weight distribution would work best for this set up and cost wise. Not sure which system will work for my set up. Was also considering looking into a RAS. Not sure which would be the best option . I am traveling from Ohio out West in a couple of weeks from now and was wondering if either one of these will better than the other.

The Curt # C17050 weight distribution system you'd looked at would work fine for the approximately 500 lb tongue weight of your trailer, but because travel trailers can be very vulnerable to trailer sway caused by cross winds and turbulence caused by passing traffic, I'd highly recommend going with a weight distribution system that provides an integrated sway control component for a safer and more comfortable towing experience.
I'd recommend the Fastway e2, part # FA92-00-0800 which is designed for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 400-800 which would be perfect for the tongue weight of your travel trailer. The e2 combines proven weight distribution with sway control that's very effective on mild to moderate trailer sway.
You'll also need a hitch ball with a 1-1/4 inch diameter shank. For a 2 inch ball, use # A-90 or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball. To install the ball, you'll need a 1-7/8 inch thin wall socket. If you don't have one or cannot borrow one, we offer them as part # EQ70-00-4800.
If you click the provided link, you can see a typical install/setup video featuring the system I recommended.
