Replacement Tires For EZ Loader Trailer That Came With 155/80R13 Tires

Question:

I currently have a 1974 EZ Loader boat trailer with a 1978 Fiberform/BT on it. It currently has 155/80R13 for tires. I am having a difficult time finding that tire size and want to know if I can go with 175/80R13?

To determine if a Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10210 will fit you will need to verify how much clearance you currently have with your 155/80R13 tires. The Karrier is going to be 1-1/4" taller for the overall height and 3/4" wider. You need to have approximately 1" of clearance on the sides of the tires and 3" clearance from the tread to the fender. This tire has a weight capacity of 1,650lbs per tire, be sure that is in line with your trailer.

If you do not have the appropriate amount of clearance the next size down is the Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel # AM30859. This wheel has a 5 on 4-1/2" lug pattern and weight capacity of 1,250lbs per tire. The tire is approximately 7/8" shorter and 5/8" narrower so there will be not clearance issues.

I can help you determine the correct load tire with whatever size you need if you can tell me the weight of your boat and trailer loaded with all the fuel and gear you will haul. Be sure not to exceed EZ Loader GVWR for your trailer.
