2" Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver and 4-Way Wiring Harness For a 2020 Ford Escape
Question:
All of the other hitches for my 2020 Ford Escape say you have to lower the exhaust. Do I need to for this model hitch? C23FR Also, it says I might need to drill or use a file on some of the holes? Is that involved? THanks,

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C23FR will require you to temporarily lower the exhaust so that you will be able to access the area where the receiver will be installed. You are only lowering the exhaust to make enough room to insert the receiver and access the fasteners. After you are completed with the installation the exhaust will go right back into the same place it was.
The hole size most likely will need to be enlarged so that the bolts and spacers can be inserted into the frame. We had to do this on the 2020 Ford Escape that I have linked the video below for you to reference.
I recommend installing the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TE54FR at the same time as you will be able to route the wiring and secure it to the receiver easier when you are installing the receiver. The Mounting Brackets # 18136 and # 18144 will provide you with a secure mounting location that requires no drilling.
