How To Temporarily Brace Travel Trailer With Damaged Powered A-Frame Jack

Question:

A few of the gears within the motor have stripped out. Electric switch operates but no longer engages the jack. I can manually operate the jack, but it binds sometimes. I know I need to order a new one, but will this cause the jack to slip or fall to the ground? Will it still hold in position? Thanks. Trying to not cancel a trip.

According to Lippert, as long as the manual crank will still operate the jack for the most part, there's little danger of the jack falling but it wouldn't be a bad idea to add some temporary support under the coupler/A-frame. I'd recommend using some jack stands like # PTW41021 under the A-frame for safety and peace of mind. The jack stands adjust up to 16-3/4 inches in height.
