Solution For Carrying Two Kayaks On Roof Of 2015 Toyota 4Runner

Question:

Hi There!!! I have been to a lot of sites but have not seen the answer to my questions yet - hoping you can help, because I buy all my gear from you guys. I have a 2015 4runner and dont quite want to trust my measuring skills without back up from a pro...are you able to fit two Hullavators on top the 4runner..and if so, what would be the best cross bars for the roof rack for the Hullavortor, I dont trust the Toyota factory ones to handle it, plus the bars arent long enough for the Hullavator. And I am also wondering if the roof rack Toyota factory is acceptable for dual Hullavators- and God I hope so., these things arent cheap..lol...thanks and sorry for all the questions, no good shops around here to help me out. Thanks much -

I checked the owner's manual for your 2015 Toyota 4Runner and the factory roof rack has a weight limit of 120lbs. You will want to verify with Toyota if this is the capacity for your roof or just the factory roof rack. If 120lbs is the capacity of your roof then it is not ideal to mount two Thule Hullavators #TH898 because they weight 40lbs each. You would have 80lbs and the weight of each kayak which would almost certainly exceed 120lbs.

Either way, I recommend adding the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars 58" # MPG216 to your factory raised rails to replace your factory crossbars. These bars are long enough to accommodate two Thule Hullavators, should you happen to have a higher weight capacity than 120lbs. Since it looks like you don't have a high enough capacity, I instead recommend going with Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier and TelosXL Load Assist w/ Tie-Downs # MPG114MD-351XL along with # MPG114MD for the second kayak. I attached demonstration videos for you.
