Upgrading Trailer Hitch Receiver For More Tongue Weight On 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor
Question:
I have a two rack motorcycle hitch mount rack carrier and looking to use it on my 2018 ford Raptor which has a 500LB rating. My Tongue weight is 500LBs I have 498 LBS of motorcycles and aluminum rack weight combined. I'm concerned about the weight being so close and the torsion weight. Is there a way to increase the torsion load capacity? Can I upgrade my Hitch to a class iv or a hitch that can handle the torsion loads? Can a Torsion hitch add capacity? I am also considering adding a front hitch to the truck and moving a motorcycle to the front, though I am also looking to flat tow the Ford Raptor and not sure if the would get in the way.

As long as you don't exceed the weight capacity of your hitch, vehicle, or cargo rack, you will be fine. If you want to upgrade your trailer hitch receiver on your 2018 F-150 Raptor for safe measures, you can go with the
Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # C26HR which can handle up to 1000lbs tongue weight. You'll want to make sure you never exceed your vehicle's capacity though.
In regard to the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers - 2" Hitch # 325-GH-1426 that you were looking at; this will not increase your hitch's capacity by any means, however, it could help will leveling the load and reducing shock so in theory it could reduce the overall tongue weight being put on your hitch.
You can install the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # C31083 as long as your Raptor doesn't have the automatic deploying air dam. Having this receiver installed would not interfere with flat towing, but having the motorcycle carrier installed on the front receiver would certainly interfere with flat towing.
