Recommended B&W Hitch For A 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 With A 6-3/4’ Box
Question:
What BandW 5th wheel hitch is best suited for my truck. I have been told with the 6 3/4’ box you wouldn’t need a slider and then I have heard that for short turns it is necessary but using it could cause contact with the tailgate because the system sets back a little further in the box. I have a brother with a Curt slider on a 2018 GMC 3500 short box and he doesn’t have a problem with that. His truck also has the factory installed system in it

The B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Dual Jaw - 18,000lbs # BWRVK3270 and B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWRVK2505 are a compatible fit for your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 with 6-3/4' bed.
I always recommend a slider in a short bed to prevent the cab and camper from coming into contact with each other when making turns. It isn't a mandatory requirement but is highly recommended to help prevent an accident and make life easier. The center of the hitch and the axle center line need to meet up so the slider wouldn't really be further back than in the box.
Curt offers great hitches as well that I regularly recommend. The Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000lbs # C16521 and Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC Truck - Carbide Finish # C16429-204 are a compatible fit for your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500.
