Parts Needed to Install a Brake Controller on a 2003 Dodge Dakota SLT
Question:
I am going to install one of your class 3 curt hitches on my 2003 dodge dakota slt with extended cab. I plan on pulling a 18 ft travel trailer with electric brakes. what progressive controller would you recommend, and what wiring harness would I need to purchase.

The brake controller that we recommend the most is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885. This is a progressive controller that can sense the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and will give a proportionate amount of braking to the trailer brakes.
Now if you have factory 7-way at the rear of your vehicle all you would need to get is a Brake Adapter part # 3020-P and the # 90885 would be fully functional.
If you do not have any trailer wiring you will need to first install a 4-way. For that you will need a Tow Ready wiring harness # 118329 that you referenced. Now to convert the 4-way to a 7-way you will need a Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This comes with everything needed to convert the 4-way to a 7-way and make the brake controller fully functional. Check out the installation instructions and install video I attached for this product.
