Towing Multiple 5th Wheel Trailers with a Gooseneck Hitch in a Flat Bed Truck

Question:

CAB-C5GX1216 We are a Hotshot Transport business towing mailnly with a gooseneck. We would like to move some 5th wheels using a simple adaptor. Would you recommend installing and removing this adaptor on multiple trailers on a regular basis? Is it necessary to drill the holes and install mounting bolts? In the video they did not.

Your best option is going to be an adapter like the one you referenced, # CAB-C5GX1216. However, keep in mind that the offset does not move the pivot point back on the truck so no extra clearance will be gained when making tight turns. The models with the offset do have to be bolted to the pin box on the trailer. The regular straight models like # CAB-C5G do not.

The length of your flat bed is also a factor. If the distance from the gooseneck ball to the end of the truck is greater than it would be on a regular 8 foot bed truck, there will probably be some compatibility issues and you will not be able to use the straight adapter.
