How to Find the Reverse Light Circuit of a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe for installing 4 to 5-way Adapter

Question:

I have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with back up lights in the lift gate. How can I wire the 4 way to 5 adapter with at 5th wire ? Do these back up wires from the lamps run under the chasis where I can get to it? Any help is greatly appreciated!

With your lift gate open you should be able to look in the threshold near the hinge and you will see a black conduit wire loom that has wire in it. If you trace where this wire loom goes you should be able to remove interior components to get to an area of your vehicle that would allow for you to access the wires easily.

Once you get to the wires you will want to test them with a circuit tester like our part # 40376 to determine which carries voltage when the reverse lights are on and use that wire for the 5th wire of the Adapter 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 20036.
