2014 Honda Odyssey With 2" Hitch Receiver Platform Rack Recommendation

Question:

good afternoon, I have a 2014 Honda 0dyssey with a 2inch Curt hitch. wondering if this bike rack fits, clearance from the center of the mounting bolt to the back of the bumper is appx 5.5 inches. I have a Swagman 2 bike rack platform, clamp that has worked great, looking at this one as the grandkids are now riding mostly 20inch bikes . Not looking for anything fancy, just want to be able to transport 4 bikes.

The Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches, part # S64665, will work with a 2" Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver IF you have a hitch extender. Your only limitation will be the distance between the hitch pin hole and the closest edge of the rack when it is in the folded position. That distance is only 3". The distance between the hitch pin hole and the edge of your bumper is 5". A hitch extender will address this issue. But keep in mind that adding a hitch extender reduces the maximum tongue weight of your hitch by 50%.

The Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 7", part # HE06, will reduce the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper from 5.5" to about 1". This distance on the Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack, when the rack is folded up against the vehicle, is 3 1/2". It will be a tight fit, but it will work. It is a platform bike rack with independent arms that clamp the frame. Each of the clamps has padding to eliminate the possibility of frame damage. It has an anti-rattle hitch pin to eliminate movement in the rack and you can lock your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

There are bike racks that will work with this Curt hitch without an extender. I recommend the Saris Freedom 4 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount, part # SA4414B.

It is a 2" hitch bike rack. This is a tilt away rack, even when loaded with bikes. So you can still have access to the rear of the vehicle. It folds up when not in use. This rack measures 10" from the closest part of the rack to the center of the hitch pin hole when it is folded, giving you plenty of room. It is adjustable, so it will fit kid's and adult's bikes. It holds your bike by three points of contact, your wheels and a clamp to a tube of your bike frame. The clamp is highly adjustable and it has soft rubber cradles to protect your frame when the bike is clamped. It has an anti-rattle hitch pin that removes movement between the hitch receiver and the bike rack. You can purchase locks for the rack to secure the rack to your vehicle the bikes to the rack.
