Does 12 Volt Circuit of 7-Way 2006 Holiday Rambler Neptune Need to be Active for Brake Controller

Question:

I plan on installing a brake controller, that I have discussed with etrailer, but first I want to ensure the 7 pin connector in the RV is ready. I am not finding power to the battery connector in the 7 pin on the RV. I know in my truck, a dummy fuse had to be replaced with a live fuse so the trailer would receive power. Do you have any ideas on this RV? I have not found such a fuse identified in the manual.

You actually don't have to have the 12 volt accessory circuit active on your 7-way for the brake controller to function so you wouldn't necessarily need to connect that if you didn't want to for this specific controller. If you had a battery on the trailer you wanted to top off while travelling you could bypass the vehicle wiring and run that circuit by itself with 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 which we sell by the foot through a breaker like # 9510.
