Is There Advantage to B and W Trailer Hitches that Have Bolts for Flanges and Not Welds
Question:
Why does this hitch have bolt on wings ..and not welded ? Is there some advantage to having bolt on wings.. Vs welded or 1 piece? Is it a weak point.

One big advantage to having the bolts of the B and W Hitch part # BWHDRH25401 hold the wings to the crosstube instead of welds is that it can ship easier and would not have the likelihood of it getting bent like the welded hitches sometimes do. Aside from some extra assembly there really isn't' any downside.
It can also make lining up the bolt holes with the vehicle easier as sometimes they aren't quite perfect on all vehicles. You could leave the bolts a little loose to allow some extra play to get everything lined up.
