Ok, so there are a number of parts you will need in order to set up your 2017 Ford Explorer with a 3.5L engine to flat tow with your Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520.

The first thing you will need are base plates, and I recommend going with the Roadmaster direct connect base plates for the easiest connection as well as the cleanest look for your '17 Explorer. The correct fit for these is going to depend on if your Explorer has Active Air Shutters or Adaptive Cruise Control; if it has neither than you can use either option.

- WITHOUT Active Air Shutters: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-524446-5

- WITHOUT Adaptive Cruise Control: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-524445-5

Along with the base plates the other parts you will need (if you don't have them) are safety chains, a wiring kit, a battery disconnect, and a supplemental braking system, which you can get with the following:

- RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643

- Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-98146-7

- Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766

- Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524

You may also need a high-low adapter such as # RM-070 in order to keep your tow bar level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter, as well as a link to our selection of adapters.

Additionally, I have added links below to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
