Will Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket TH859XT Fit OEM Roof Rack On 2014 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X?
Question:
I have the OEM roof rack and crossbars on my 2014 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x. Will this basket fit? I’ve heard we may have to mount it on the actual roof rack, rather than the crossbars. Is this true?

The Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket # TH859XT that you were looking at is made to attach to crossbars running left to right; it is not designed to be attached to side rails running front to back. This should fit your 2014 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x without an issue, but you will want to take a few measurements just to be sure since your side rails are raised up higher than the crossbars and could interfere if the cargo box is wider than the crossbars.
The cargo box measures 40" wide so if your crossbars measure at least 40" long then it will fit between the side rails on your factory roof rack. One more thing to check is the crossbar spread which is the distance from the center of one crossbar to the center of the next crossbar (see photo). This box requires a crossbar spread range of 20" to 37". If your crossbars are adjustable then you won't have an issue with the crossbar spread. I think this box will work well for your vehicle but you will want to verify those measurements. I attached a demonstration video which shows this box being uses on a Nissan Frontier with aftermarket crossbars.
