Recommended Suspension Enhancement for a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500

Question:

I have a Jayco Jayflight 27rl travel trailer that’s about 7000lbs. tongue weight about 800 lbs. I have a bx1003 sway pro blue ox weight distribution hitch. I still have some squat and was wondering if you recommend air bags or the road master 4611 kit or the heavy duty. Since I don’t have a leveling kit on the front of the truck, unloaded the front of the truck is a little lower than the back. I didn’t know if the ras kit would raise the rear of the truck more than stock? Also would like to know if I have to set up the distribution hitch different.

The RoadActive Suspension # RAS54FR will definitely help with the sag you are experiencing. That being said, these are a set it and forget it type product and are not really adjustable once installed. These will affect the ride when not towing, but if you are a full time tower, they are definitely a good option.

If you do not tow full time, however, the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2609 will be the better option. These are adjustable from 100 psi, giving you up to 5,000 pounds of added support when towing, all the way down to 5 psi, making them feel nonexistent when not towing.

Neither of these options will affect the way the weight distribution needs to be set up as well. As both of these options are also supplementing the stock suspension, they should not raise the back end of the truck. They will just add support when under load.
