Replacing Trailer Tires With a Smaller Size

Question:

Ordered my trailer hitch from you guys. Great service, very satisfied. I have a trailer with 235 75r15 tires on it. I have a pair of 185 80r13 I can get for cheap. Brand new tires. Will they fit?

If you are referring to installing the ST185/80R13 tire on a 15 inch wheel, then it will not fit, unfortunately. That being said, if you are swapping both the tire and wheel, then yes it will work as long as the wheel has the same bolt pattern. You will want to measure said bolt pattern to double check. This should be done measuring from center to center of bolt holes right next to each other.

If you get 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
If you get 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
If you get 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
If you get 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

It should also be noted that the ST235/75R15 tire will have a larger diameter. This will vary depending on the type of tire and even the brand, but generally it will be anywhere from 27 inches to almost 29 inches. The ST185/80R13, like the # AM3S331, will have a diameter of 24.4 inches. So it will most likely lower your trailer as well.
