2021 Grand Cherokee Overland Flat Towing Recommendations

Question:

I just purchased the above Jeep specifically to tow behind my Prevost. I have read on various forums about the GC death wobbleinch and I am scheduled to have the kit installed on the jeep. The kit keeps the power steering pump working to avoid that condition. Apart from that I anticipate using a roadmaster base plate and can use either a coach mounted roadmaster tow bar or a toad mounted tow bar. I have both types of tow bars. I think the base plate with the spreader bar would be the right choice to give me the flexibility. Do you agree? What I would like is to accept the fact I am getting old and less spry and want experts to complete the towing set up on my jeep. Do you do this? I have set up 5 toads myself, including my own fabricated base plates and wiring, and in over 400,000 miles of towing never had an issue, but I am done doing the type of work required. To be honest I have been underwhelmed at the expertise of RV dealer technicians and feed back suggests you are the go to place.

The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # RM-521440-5 and any Roadmaster tow bar excluding the Tracker and StowMaster tow bars will be a great and easy setup choice. Personally I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000lbs Item # RM-522 because it has a 6,000lbs weight capacity so you load your Jeep up with extra cargo, is non-binding, and is a quick and easy hookup.

We do offer installation and our warehouse is located in Wentzville, MO. We have people come from all across America to for installation so all you'll need to do is contact our customer service department at 800-940-8924.

If you need any of the of the other flat towing required items I have my recommendations listed below:

Braking System: Brake Buddy Stealth Supplemental Braking System - Proportional Item # HM39530. Since it seems like you tow a lot and you bought this car specifically for flat towing I recommend a system that you only have to set up once. Another great feature with this system is that it charges your battery as you tow so you won't arrive at your destination with a dead battery.

Tow Bar Wiring: Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit Item # RM-154. Same as with the braking system this will be a one time set up and you'll be able to be on the go.

Safety Cables: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000 lbs Item # RM-643.
