Recommended Heavy Duty Hitch for a 2006 GMC Sierra Short Bed
Question:
Will a DT 45519 fit a 2006 short bed gmc 2500hd
asked by: John
Expert Reply:
The Draw-Tite # DT45519 is designed to be used on the 8 foot bed models of the GMC Sierra and will not fit the short bed models. That being said, we do have Class V hitches with a 2 1/2 inch receiver options available for your short bed truck.
The Draw-Tite # DT45517 is designed for short bed trucks and has a 13,000 pound towing capacity and 1,300 pound tongue weight capacity. This is upped to 17,000 pounds and 1,700 pounds, respectively, when a weight distribution system is used.
The Curt # C15703 is also designed for short bed trucks but does have a higher capacity. It is rated to 18,000 pounds towing and a 2,700 pound tongue weight. This will not increase with a weight distribution system, however.
If you are looking for the highest capacity hitch available for your vehicle, the Curt # C15703 will be the way to go.
