Recommendation Between Aluminum and Steel Trailer Wheels

Question:

I have steal Modular 15x6inch on 5.5 wheels on my 20foot Pace America box trailer right now 5200 Lbs. axles. I carry in the neighborhood of 7K in the trailer. I am looking for a set of wheels that will not bend under the load while turning. What is my best bet to achieve this??? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

The main difference between steel wheels and aluminum wheels is the corrosion resistance. Aluminum wheels will stand the test of time much better than steel wheels. The capacities between something like the Taskmaster # TA52FR and the HWT # AM22646 will be the same at 2,830 pounds per wheel. As long as the wheels capacity meets your needs, which either of these definitely will, this shouldn't be an issue.

The other big difference is the designs. Steel wheels really only have 3 to 4 styles, whereas aluminum wheels have a lot more variety.

With all that being said, I would go with aluminum wheels. The corrosion resistance and more unique designs make for a custom look for your trailer.
