How Does Brake Controller Wire to Vehicle and Trailer as Well as Charge Circuit for Trailer
Question:
Hi, A friend of mine currently has a 2019 dual cab Landcruiser with an electric brake controller wired through the standard 7pin flat connector but he has just purchased an easytow boat trailer with Dexter electric brakes and an onboard battery for breakaway control. I do not have any of the spec for the brake controller or the Dexter unit at this stage but the seller of the boat has advised the battery charge must be powered through 12pin plug with 30amp supply and earth, just wanting to know what other components we will require to set it up? Cheers,

The brake controller needs to be have power and ground ran to it on the black and white wires, the red wire runs to the stoplight circuit that only has voltage when brakes are applied, and blue runs to the 7-way to connect to the trailer brakes.
To charge the battery you'd need to run 10 gauge wire to the positive post of the battery like with part # 10-1-1 which we sell by the foot and then for a circuit breaker part # 9510.
I attached a help article on installing brake controllers for you to check out as well.
