Adjusting 5th Wheel Trailer Height To Level Trailer And Allow More Bed Rail Clearance
Question:
Hello, I have a 2021 Ram 3500 with a Curt 25k hitch for the Ram OEM puck system and a 38foot fifth wheel. With the trailer level, I did the measurements from the ground to the hitch skid plate and ground to bed deck to determine the height of my hitch, but when we went to hook up the first time I only had about 4inch of clearance from bed rail to trailer cab. Even after moving the hitch up 2inch Im only getting 4-5inch of clearance at the back of the bed. Should I raise the hitch again to its highest setting? Wont this cause the trailer to tow nose high?

Expert Reply:
Raising the height on your hitch even more would cause your trailer to tow nose high so instead what you can do is raise your trailer to help level it out with the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit Item # K71-384-00 for 2-3/8" diameter axles and the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit Item # K71-385-00 for 3" diameter axles.
