I'd recommend going with an easy to use proportional controller. The Tekonsha Voyager you'd looked at, part
# 39510 is a proportional controller, but due to it's lack of an auto level feature or a full digital display I'd steer clear from that option unless you're VERY familiar with using a brake controller.
Something like the Brake EVN # TK63VR would be much easier for the novice or less-frequent user. The controller will auto level, has a digital display that indicates how you have the output set so there's no guess work. Any faults in the trailer braking system will be displayed as an error code that's easy to look up in the owner's manual, as opposed to the color-changing single LED on the Voyager. Much easier to use and understand. The controller also features a boost mode which you can set for heavier trailers so the power is delivered to the trailer brakes more quickly.
For a 2016 Ram 1500, you'd need the # 3024-P wiring harness which allows for a plug and play install. The black connector plugs into the rear of the controller, the gray plug is installed into the connector under the dash to the right of the steering column above where the driver's right knee would be, as shown in the linked video.
