Replacement Dexter 8-248 Hub, Races, Bearings and Grease Seals For Boat Trailer

Question:

My mechanic recorded parts as he re-greased the hubs on the trailer for my 19foot motor boat: Seal TCM 171255 Outer Bearing A4 Inner Bearing A17 Dexter axle 8-248 hub Please tell me which of your products to buy so I can be self sufficient on a road trip if one of my trailer hubs/bearing/etc goes bad. Id like to be able to plug-n-play, so Ill buy the hub, bearings, seals EVERYTHING. And if it comes pre-assembled, so much the better

The Dexter 8-248 is a 3500 lb idler hub which uses the L44649 outer/L68149 inner bearing and a 10-19 grease seal. The bearings cross reference to the A4 and A17 bearings you mentioned and the 10-19 seal cross references to the 171255 seal. For bearings/races/seals, you'd need the # BK2-100 kit.

For a replacement galvanized hub (which is what you'd want to use on a boat trailer), use # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K. The races are pre-installed, which is a good thing because installing the races can be a pain. The # BK2-100 kit above would provide the bearings, races, grease seal, tang washer and cotter pin. If you need replacement dust caps, use # RG04-020 for a standard spindle (sold in pairs) or # DC200L-DCRP for an E-Z Lube spindle which is sold individually.
