Recommended Winch for for 2018 Bass Tracker Pro 175 TF Bass Boat

Question:

The winch on my boat trailer is not working correctly and I would like to replace it but not sure which one will work or the rating that it needs to be. Any help would be greatly appreciated

In order to suggest the correct replacement winch, you'll need to pick a winch with a capacity at least half (or more) of the weight of the boat. Choosing a winch is one of those times when you'll want to use a little overkilll as far as the capacity goes, the closer the winch capacity is to the weight of the boat, the easier it'll be to crank and the longer the winch will last because it won't be working so hard. The dry weight of your boat is around 1010 lbs, but the fully-loaded package weight is saw was around 2200 lbs so unless you'll be winching up a very steep ramp, generally speaking a winch rated for 1500-1800 lbs would work.

The US-made Dutton-Lainson # DL14627 single speed winch would be a good choice for just about any situation you'd encounter with your bass boat, so that's what I'd recommend for you. The 25 foot long # DL24249 strap is sold separately.

The Fulton # F142425 XLT 3200 lb 2-speed winch you'd looked at would be a great choice for boats weighing up to around 6400 lbs, but as mentioned above, it'll work perfectly for boats weighing less than that. The pawl can easily be disengaged so you can play the strap out by hand. The 20 foot long x 2 inch wide nylon strap is included. If you want a top-of-the-line winch, this is it.

I'll link you to our Hand Winch help article which contains more information about hand winches than most folks would ever need to know.

I'll also link you to product description videos that will walk you through the features of both winches.
