How to Identify Which Replacement Bearing Kit for Keystone Passport 151 Ultra Light Travel Trailer

Question:

Hi, I just bought, I mean two days ago, bought a Keystone Passport ultra light 151 travel trailer. This is my 1st RV, but I do remember the fiasco of 2010 when my boats wheel bearings crumbled to dust, due to my neglect. That being said, I have a Dexter Axle owners manual that came with the Travel trailer, so Im guessing I have a Dexter Axle. Can you tell me which kit I would need, to replace my bearings and seals in advance of a disaster? If you need pictures, I can do that too. Heres the cover of the owners manual see picture.

You do have a Dexter axle, but I don't have enough information to provide specific replacement parts. What appears in your photo looks more like a catalog than an owner's manual. Dexter offers many different axles in the 600-8000 lb range, all of which would use different bearing sets. Unfortunately, there isn't a database that would allow me to look up which bearings your axle uses, but I can make a pretty good guess which you'll want to confirm.

Given the 3885 GVWR you very likely have a 3500 lb axle (3885 minus the approximately 400 lb tongue weight would put you right in that range) or possibly a 4400 lb axle. You can confirm this by pulling one of the hubs and checking out the inner and outer wheel bearing reference numbers. You'll need to pull the hubs to change the bearings anyway so might as well do it now.

A 3500 lb axle would typically use a L68149 inner and an L44649 outer bearing and a 10-19 seal with a 1.719 inner diameter. If that's the case, you'd need the # BK2-100 replacement bearing/race/seal kit.

If you have a 4400 lb axle, we don't have a replacement kit, but you can obtain the bearings, races and seals individually. You'd need an # LM67048 inner and an # L44649 outer bearing and a # LM67010 inner and a # L44610 outer race . For a grease seal, you'd need a 10-19 seal, part # RG06-050 for a pair.

I've you've never had to pull a hub before, click the linked video where my buddy Randy will walk you through the process.
