How is Trailers Overall Weight Capacity Determined
Question:
With tandem dexter 12k electric over hydraulic axles, dual wheels, so 8 tires 215/75R17.5 135/133L ...what is the potential for weight rating? Does one take the dual tire rating 4540 times 8? 36,320#? I’m confused how a manufacturer says they can get a trailer with two 12k axles rated at 32500, so I’m doing my own research to make sure I’m not going in a wrong direction. Thank you!

The weight rating of a trailer is not something we can really be an authority on but we can help you determine it. It comes down to the individual rating of everything and then whatever the lowest rated item is becomes the overall capacity due to your setup really only being as strong as its weakest link.
It doesn't make sense that a trailer would have two 12k rated axles and then be overall rated for 32,500 lbs but you'd have to bring that up with the manufacturer as that could be in error.
