Recommended Tow Bar Wiring For 2016 Chevrolet Sonic Being Flat Towed
Question:
I want to tow my “newly acquired” 2016 Chevy sonic behind my RV. I just ordered the base plate and the T1 vehicle wiring harness with four pole flat trailer connector # 118640 from eTrailer, but now I think it might be the wrong part. Is it the right part for what I need? If not, then what is the correct #? Also, the Sonic manual says I need to pull the DLIS fuse every time I tow, but couldn’t I just install a battery disconnect instead of pulling the fuse? Or does the DLIS fuse operate more than just the battery? THANKS for your answers!

I have another option for you, but the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring harness # 118640 you purchased for your 2016 Chevrolet Sonic is for connecting to a trailer and will not power the lights when you are flat towing.
Instead you will need the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs # RM-155 which will allow your RV to power the lights of your Sonic while it is being flat towed. If you RV has a 7-way connector you will also need 7-way to 4-way adapter # PK12716.
You will not be able to use a battery disconnect when flat towing your vehicle since you need to have the key turned to the On/ACC and will need to stick will just pulling the DLIS fuse as that is the only function that needs to be off when flat towing.
If you do not already have a supplemental braking system I recommend taking a look at the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR due to it being very easy to install, and since it gets completely removed when you are done flat towing it can be used in multiple vehicles in the future if needed. You will also need 12v Outlet Kit # RM-9332.
I included a video of the # RM-155 being installed in a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic for you to take a look at.
