Upgrading a 2 Inch Husky Centerline Shank to a 2 1/2 Inch Shank

Question:

Got a trailer using a husky centerline 32217. Switched trucks from a 2016 ram 1500 to a 2016 Chevy 2500. Beside now having a 2.5 inch receiver the original was 2 inch, I also need some more . The current shank has about 5.5 in of max , but the ram didn’t use all of it. Got a recommendation for a new shank. A little concerned about the extra movement potential with a reducing bushing.

Reducer sleeves like the Curt # C45405 will work with weight distribution hitches, but I highly recommend using an anti-rattle device like the Roadmaster Quite Hitch # RM-062 with it. There can still be movement, however, so a new shank would be a better option.

The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank # EQ94FR is rated to a maximum tongue capacity of 1,600 pounds and would give you a maximum drop of 9 inches. As you mentioned needing more drop that what came standard with your Husky, this would be a significantly better option than using a reducer sleeve.
