Cant Find Trailer Connector Tow Package Relay Harness Connector on 2020 Nissan Frontier
Question:
I attempted to install this wiring harness on my 2020 frontier pro-4x. I was able to connect the wire in the rear that connects to the trailer but there is no 12 pin connection for the relay. I looked under the kick plate on the passengers side and there is no connection. Could these relays be factory installed?

I suppose it's possible that the relays in question had been factory installed, but it's unlikely.
If the relays were already in place, the 4-pole trailer connector would have been installed as well. Curt confirms the compatibility of the # C56225 harness/relay kit on the 2020 Frontier so compatibility isn't the problem. I'd recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the pins on the 4-pole connector provided by the # C56225. If the pins show signal as each taillight function is activated then the relays are indeed already in place, and you'll be good to go.
A more likely scenario is that the connector for the relay harness is present behind the passenger kick panel as shown in the linked video but is hidden. Since 2021 is the last year of the current generation of Nissan Frontier truck, it's extremely unlikely that Nissan would change the relay connector location in the 2nd to last model year of the truck. We have received feedback from customers that have told us that the connector you're looking for was wrapped up in a thin foam sheet or tucked behind other wiring components making it difficult to find, but I've never heard of the connector being found elsewhere. If the wiring behind the kick panel is wrapped in tape, gently remove the tape, as it might be covering the connector as well.
If after further looking you still cannot find the connector, let me know and I'll have one of my friends in the Tech Services department at Curt look a little deeper to see if they have any record of the connector being found somewhere else on the vehicle.
