Fifth Wheel Tailgate that Fits 2003 Ford F-250

Question:

I have a Ford F250 XLT Super Duty 2003. I purchased this tailgate from another vendor and had a problem. So I am looking for your guidance to get a tailgate that fits properly. The problem I had is the part of the tailgate tube that fits over the driver side receiver. The inner diameter of the tube on the tailgate is just a slight bit larger than the receiver on the truck. The bushing cannot be used no room It would have to be metal on metal. On the passenger side the rubber is closed at both ends and it needs to be open on one end. The factory part will not fit due to the tube diameter on the aftermarket tailgate being smaller than that on the factory tailgate. I am looking for a tailgate that fits properly. This one does not seem correct since there is no room for a bushing on the driver side. I assume that it was not designed to be metal on metal. But maybe I am wrong on that? I appreciate the help. The Stromberg # VG-97-100 that you referenced is listed as a fit for your 2003 Ford F-250 but since you didn't get it from us we can't verify that you got the correct part number or if there was a defect with it.

We did have the chance to install the part # VG-97-4000 on a similar 2006 Ford Super Duty as yours and we found it fit well. You can see the fit at the attached install/review video as well.
